Paphiopedilum agusii : a new species from Central Java in Indonesia

The flower of this species is apparently similar to P. argus (Rchb.f.) Stein and <I>P. javanicum (Reinw. ex Lindl.)Stein but differs from P. javanicum by a wider dorsal sepal (largely ovate and not elliptic), oblong petals (not narrowly oblong), a subcircular staminode (not reniform).

2016年10月に、インドネシア、ジャワ島中部（標高約900m)）からパフィオペディルムの新種が見いだされ、William Cavestro 博士により、2017年3月、「The Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia Nomenclature Note」にPaphiopedilum agusii 　と命名・記載された。 Paphiopedilum agusii は、明らかにPaphiopedilum argus　や　Paphiopedilum jyavanicum　に類似するが、後者とはドーサルセパルが広く、ペタルは長いという点で異なっている。スタミノードはさらに丸みを帯びている。 葉は3-6枚で、幅3-4.4cm、長さ14-20cm。およそ16-24cmの直立する花茎には、NS　8-8.7cmの花を1輪咲かせる。DS　3.4-3.6 x 3.5-3.7cm, P 5-5.2 x 1.2-1.5cm。
