Paphiopedilum gratrixianum var. cangyuanense was discovered from China and described by Zhong-jian Liu & Li-Jun Chen as a new variety of Paphiopedilum gratrixianum, and was introduced by Mr. Olaf Gruss in Die Orchidee 61(4):283, 2010.
