Hello Mr. Tanaka,
Last week I clicked on your homepage and I saw the new hybrid of Paph. delenatii x vietnamense. On tuesday I phoned to some nursery and asked for a Plant. Now I am happy to have the Plants and I send you a photo of them. At this time a hybrid Paph. curtisii x St Swithin is also flowering, I send a Photo too.
A Paph. henryanum, which has flowered last year, you can see on the third photo. Many regards
I grow orchids since 20 years. My first orchid was a cymbidium, the next one Laelia purpurata is still alive and I have made seedlings of this plant. Then followed many Cattleya hybrids and Vanda coerulea and Vanda hybrids from Thailand. I have made seedlings of Vanda coerulea which has still flowered. Since ten years I specialiced on Paphiopedilum species and hybrids, especially the multifloral and the parvisepalum and their hybrids. Multifloral Paphiopedilum are very expensive and so I buy seedlings and try to grow up. Today I have three young plants of Paph. rothschildianum and two young plants of Paph. stonei and one little Paph. sanderianum, my first Paph. sanderianum died last year, it had grown very slowly, the new one grows much faster. The first Paph. of the Subgenus parvisepalum I bought nearly ten years ago at an exhibition in Neu Ulm.
It was Paph. micrantum which is still alive. Then followed Paph. armeniacum, and malipoense, which died after some years. But I tried again and bought two paph. armeniacum, one of Mr. Glanz which he has planted in a flat pot. So I planted the other one in a flat pot too and they both flowered nearly every year.
The paph. malipoense which I bought three years ago flowers every year. But the Paph. emersonii grows very slowly and I hope it will flower next year. I grow Paph. delenatii since many years. This year I am proud to have a seedling of Paph. vietnamense and a hybrid of Paph. vietnamense x delenatii. They are growing well and I hope next year the hybrid will flower.
The culture:
I grow my orchids in a conservatory which is build directly at my house. From the living room I can go directly in the greenhouse. During the summer I had to give shade because it is too hot on the south side of the house. In winter I heat only temperate, 20C and I had to spray less water, so that the plants are dry in the evening. In summer I and my women sprays more than one time a day.
The Paphiopedilum plants doesn't want too much water on the leaves especially in the middle of the plant where the water from the leaves will run. I have lost some Plants with crown rot, so I am now more carefully. The Paph. plants are standing on a plant table where the air can moove around the plants.
I know my culture is not the optimum, but when they flower I can say that I am on the right way.
